Yield Improvement Data Analyst
Job Purpose:
The PCB industry is experiencing a renaissance with the industry focusing on Interconnect Technology and Miniaturization. With layers of circuits approaching more than 70 layers and features approaching below 1 mil (25.4 microns), the industry is rapidly changing from the early 2000s to enabling technologies in the 2020s and 2030s. Sanmina's PCB division is at the forefront of this renaissance, offering new opportunities for talented engineers in chemical engineering, material science, physics, and mechanical engineering. Sanmina is seeking engineers to explore opportunities to unleash the potential of advanced semiconductors and enable significant technological advancements. The yield engineering role will be part of the quality organization of a Sanmina facility that makes some of the most complex and mission critical PCBs solutions on the planet. The Yield Engineer will perform data mining and develop reports, dashboards, and apps to provide process trends and KPI’s.
Nature of Duties/Responsibilities:
- Implement new methods and capabilities for enabling efficient analysis of manufacturing data for yield improvement. Drive the automated publication of standard yield metrics and KPI’s across the factory (PCB fabrication and final test).
- Develop dashboards and applications to clearly communicate process and equipment health to the Process Engineering and Operations teams.
- Drive understanding of the relationship between design attributes and yield. Work with Product Engineering and Process Engineering to translate design attributes into design rules to choose optimal fabrication process flows. Develop rules to flag designs in the design-phase that are at the edge or outside of current factory capabilities.
- Review first article yields vs predicted yields. Develop a feedback loop to correct the yields and improve the yield prediction formulas by understanding design attribute dependence on yield points.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, preferably Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial or Materials Science Engineering.
- Experience working with large, complex data sets.
- Strong data analysis skills and proficiency with tools such as JMP, Minitab, Excel, SQL, Power BI, and Python.
- Experienced in statistical data analysis and Design of Experiments
- Experience developing dashboards and interfacing with equipment to automate data compilation.
